Monday morning, at around 5:15, a spectacular incident took place in downtown Montreal. According to Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson with the SPVM, a suspect stole one car, then attempted to steal a second car, on St-Urbain between Ontario and Sainte-Catherine.\nSt-Urbain has been closed between Ontario and René-Lévesque while investigators talk to witnesses and determine what happened. It is unclear when the street will re-open.\nA suspect is currently in custody. He has been arrested and is facing charges for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and auto theft.\nAt around 5:15 this morning, a man, aged 31 years old, was forcibly ejected from his car while waiting for the light to turn green by the suspect, a 35-year-old man, at the corner of Ontario and St-Urbain.\nAccording to Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal Police, the alleged car thief then drove off on St-Urbain in the southbound direction.\nEN COURS Montréal : Accident suite à un vol de véhicule à l’angle des rues Ste-Catherine et St-Urbain. The suspect then ran off and attempted to steal a second vehicle. He was apprehended by witnesses, who then communicated with 9-1-1.\nOfficers were quickly dispatched to the scene.
