Spring has finally sprung in Montreal. Temperatures are gradually creeping up and leaves have begun to pop back on tree branches. The Montreal summer festival, too, is coming into focus. Dozens of pop-up restaurants and events are beginning to announce their summer programs. The countless food festivals coming this year will be perhaps the most exciting events of the summer. Montreal is a summer foodie paradise. The sprawling public markets open their outdoor venues, the verdant parks welcome picnic-goers, and restaurants compete for the attention of consumers with new, seasonal products. One festival that's sure to pique the interest of every Montrealer is the upcoming Poutinefest du West Island. The event, brought to you by the same organizers who produce the annual Ribfest and Macfest, is a celebration of poutine and traditional summer cuisine. For its inaugural West Island edition, "a dozen of food trucks will be gathered at the Plaza Pointe-Claire" serving "30 exotic poutines," according to the event Facebook page. "Lovers of good beer," will "be able to enjoy a range of local micro-breweries." In addition, there will be "dozens of activities for all ages: musical groups, public entertainers, professional makeup artists, water games, inflatable games." Dogs are allowed at the event, so the whole household can get in on the fun.
