Due to recent increases in new COVID-19 cases, the Quebec government has put Montreal under "yellow pre-alert" according to its Regional Alert and Response System. \nThe Bas-Saint-Laurent, Chaudière-Appalaches, and Montérégie regions are also now in yellow alert.\nThey join the Capitale-Nationale, Outaouais, Laval, and Estrie regions, which have been categorized as yellow since September 5.\n\n\n\nEditor's Choice: Quebec Schools Have Closed 144 Classes Due To COVID-19 Cases\n\n\n\n\n\n“\n\n\nThe number of positive cases is growing every week.\n\n\nPremier François Legault\n\n\nAt a press conference Tuesday, Premier Legault and his colleagues at the health ministry once again reiterated the need for Quebecers to respect the rules and to stop having parties and barbeques. \nThe Regional Alert and Response System has four levels of alert: green, yellow, orange, and red.\nThe system is meant to track the risk for regional community transmission and new COVID-19 cases. \n"I'm very worried [about] what's happening," said Legault. "If the virus continues to spread, people will be hospitalized, some people will die."
