An intervention by the fire department is currently ongoing in the Plateau. Police have tweeted out saying that St-Laurent Boulevard is closed between Duluth and Napoléon. Napoléon is closed between Saint-Laurent and Sainte-Dominique.

The intervention has been ongoing for at least three hours now. At this time, we know that the intervention is due to the presence of "dangerous materials."

Sécurité Incendie Montréal tweeted out this at 11:00 a.m.

The tweet states that an intervention in dangerous materials is currently underway. Police were alerted of a package containing an unidentified substance at around 1:30 p.m.

As of a few minutes ago, the intervention was still ongoing, as the SPVM retweeted the warning.

The police warned people to continue avoiding the area.

 According to ICI Grand Montréal, the package may contain white powder.

The building in question was evacuated after the discovery of the package. According to the chief of operations for the fire department, no one was injured or incapacitated by the substance.

Police, firemen and people in hazmats suit are all on the scene right now. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
