A protestor who allegedly tried to egg Justin Trudeau at the Montreal climate strike was swiftly tackled to the ground by the prime minister's body guards.\nTrudeau's participation in the strike was controversial given what some consider a questionable environmental record.\nVisit MTLBlog for more headlines.\nThere are definitely mixed sentiments to Justin Trudeau appearing at the climate strike in Montreal. Some applaud the Prime Minister for taking part in the massive Canadian movement, while others believe that if you ok an oil pipeline you have no place at an environmental rally. And then there are others like myself who are altogether confused as to whether he is aware he is marching against himself.\nMost of today's march has gone off without too much of a hitch. But a small commotion did break out when one angry protestor allegedly lunged at Trudeau.\nTrudeau's security detail quickly incapacitated the man, instructing the protester to, "Stay down."\nIt has been reported that the man was attempting to throw eggs at the Prime Minister and was caught with a small carton on his person.\nThe man has since been arrested. No one was hurt in the incident.\nTrudeau didn't seem too fazed by the disturbance and continued marching and waving alongside his wife and children.\nSo far, accounts of the march have been peaceful. As perhaps the largest protest in Quebec history, now estimating a total of 500,000 participants, this is pretty amazing for our city.\nTweets regarding the takedown were mostly positive, saying there is no room for violence against anyone at an otherwise peaceful march.\nA man attempted to attack Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau at the #climatestrikemontreal. We need to do more.”\nIt will be interesting to see the follow-up on that sentiment with the elections coming up.
