Despite social distancing measures, people in Quebec are still connecting with their neighbours with the rainbow window trend. Many artists are also sharing messages of hope on their drawings. Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. In these dark times, people are doing what they can to bring some colour into the world. Though social distancing keeps us apart, Montrealers are finding creative ways to have some fun — playing music from balconies, building giant model train sets, and participating in communal art therapy. It's a spirit seen around the world, even in the hardest-hit areas. In Italy, residents are hanging images of rainbows in their windows as a sign of hope. Now, the rainbow window trend has come to Quebec. People across the province have posted photos of their rainbow drawings, often the work of their children, to social media. The idea, according to the BBC, is that people on daily, socially-distanced strolls can find the images in their neighbours' windows, connecting in spirit even if physical contact is impossible. In Quebec, social media images of the rainbows are under the hashtag #arcenciel. Many feature the encouraging message, "ça va bien aller" — it's going to be okay. The touching gesture is bringing some beauty to the cold phenomenon of social distancing. See just some of the hundreds of posts in Quebec below.
