Montrealers will experience a mix of heat, rain, storms and humidity today. Environment Canada has, in fact, issued both a heat warning and a thunderstorm watch for the Montreal area.\nThe city has experienced a heatwave that began over the weekend and continues to persist today. Unfortunately, the heavy, oppressive humidity that you've been experiencing over the last few days will continue well into tonight.\nThis humidity is likely what has brought thunderstorms to the region. Montreal is set to experience some dramatic thunderstorms this evening, which will continue overnight.\nEnvironment Canada warns, "The warm and humid air mass will persist until this evening, the combined values of temperature and humidity will produce a humidex factor of 37 to 40."\nEnvironment Canada\nHeat warnings are issued when high temperatures or humidex values may cause a risk of "heat illnesses." Environment Canada warns that conditions are favourable for the development of "severe thunderstorms."\nAccording to Environment Canada, storms can produce strong gusts, heavy rain, hail and even TORNADOS. That's right: tornados.\nEnvironment Canada\nThe government agency goes on to state that "intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. [...] Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
