Terrasses Bonsecours is being accused of racism after denying entry to a Black woman and a group of her friends last weekend. In a now-deleted Facebook post, the woman claims that, on Saturday, July 4, the establishment's security staff and owners told her group that they couldn't allow them inside without a reservation, despite having booked a table two weeks prior to the incident. While waiting around 45 minutes for the owner to see them, the group was shocked that all non-Black people were admitted entry, including a large group of 15. 

"We had a confirmed reservation via text and email," writes the woman. "All non-Black people came in, their names on the list, but not ours. The so-called manager [...] came to ask us to leave without a reason, that he had no table for us today." 

The ever-popular Old Port club has denied the allegations, saying it "does not discriminate" against customers based "on colour, culture, or religion." 

"Every year, we employ over 200 people from all backgrounds. We embrace the opportunity of having a diverse team and we are proud to cater to all customers." 

Several people, however, have called out the bar for lying in its statement and sharing similar experiences they've had at the establishment.

Now, a Facebook group called "Racisme aux Terrasses Bonsecours" has sprung up, sharing this recent experience and calling for anyone who has experienced similar acts to speak out against the establishment. 

Many people have alleged that the bar has purposefully deleted comments on its social media accounts.

MTL Blog reached out to Terrasses Bonsecours for a statement and its representative said that "we're totally blown away by the reaction that we've had." 

"If anybody's been to Terrasses Bonsecours, you'll see a wide variety of cultures. We're not choosing the clientele because of that."
