Environment Canada forecasts that the winter storm coming for Montreal could bring up to 20 cm of snow, as well as up to 45 cm in surrounding regions like Mauricie, Lachute, and Saint-Jérôme. Below you can see the projected trajectory of the low-pressure system that is expected to travel up from the United States into Southern Quebec before heading to Canada's east coast.
Based on the radar prediction above, it looks like Montreal will mostly be facing snow mixed with rain and will hopefully miss out on most of the freezing rain and ice pellets that appear to target regions north of the St. Lawrence.
As you can see in the map below, several regions in Southern Quebec have now been issued either a snowfall or winter storm warning.
The winter storm warning for Mauricie, Lachute, and Saint-Jérôme notes that this incoming low-pressure system "will bring heavy snow to these regions, with more than 35 to 45 cm over some areas."
Environment Canada has been warning people in Quebec that this storm was en route since this past Sunday, with predicted snow totals only climbing in the time since.
