• World Tour, the mysterious new world-travelling music festival produced by Will Smith, has released more details as its inaugural event in Melbourne approaches.
  • The tour will make stops in Berlin, Milan, Seoul, Taipei, Osaka, Miami, and Montreal.

In January, news about the new Will and Jada Pinkett Smith-produced travelling festival, called World Tour, raised more than a few eyebrows. Details were slim in the initial announcement, first reported by Billboard, promising only a "multi-genre event-series" that would visit "the world's most iconic cities," among them: Berlin, Milan, Seoul, Taipei, Osaka, Miami, and Montreal. Now, as the inaugural event in Melbourne draws near, more details have appeared on the World Tour website, offering Montrealers a glimpse of things to come.

The Melbourne stop will coincide with the city's own F1 race in March and "take place at Lakeside Stadium [...] located within the F1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix Circuit."

In fact, "World Tour Melbourne ticket holders will get restricted access to the Grand Prix circuit for access to Lakeside Stadium."

Whether the Montreal stop will include a similar collaboration is unclear, but the partnership between F1 and World Tour suggests at the very least that it's possible.

The event has also expanded on its description, promising that each stop "will feature internationally acclaimed A-list artists, locally-celebrated superstars, and globally recognised DJs."

"Fans will be able to engage globally through exciting content formats on multiple platforms."

"World Tour will bring together people from different cultures and backgrounds to create an unforgettable experience."

Tickets are also now on sale for Melbourne with four price tiers:

  • "Grandstand reserved seating:" CA$177 – $235 (AU$200.35 – $266.00)

  • "General admission standing:" CA$164 – $235 (AU$185.05 – $266)

  • "Residence Gold Club Membership:" CA$487 (AU$550)

  • "Resident VIP Diamond Club Membership:" CA$655 (AU$740)

According to Australian ticket vendor Ticketek, VIP packages include access to the World Tour Residence, "an exclusive outdoor summer lakeside village [...] set amongst palm trees with exclusive bars, comfortable lounge furniture, and quality food offerings before and during the show, combined with the best available seats."

VIP ticket-holders additionally get:

  • five "complimentary drinks in The Residence;"

  • "exclusive DJ ‘Sunset Sessions’ only in The Residence;"

  • "VIP only access to a variety of quality food outlets and a range of premium beverages;"

  • a "roaming photographer available to help capture the memories;"

  • "mobile phone charging stations;"

  • and a "dedicated merchandise stand" and bathrooms "to avoid the queues."

World Tour has only disclosed one headliner so far for the Melbourne iteration, English pop-rock artist Robbie Williams, "with other incredible acts to be announced shortly."

MTL Blog has reached out to World Tour for more details about the Montreal concerts and events.

Stay tuned for more info.
