You Can Now Park For Free In Montreal During Snow Removal
Some good news, for once.
For anyone who owns a car and uses it to get from point A to point B on a regular basis, you know that winter is a particularly rough time to be a driver.
Montreal is already home to some pretty questionable driving, and it seems like this fact is automatically intensified when winter blows into town.
TL;DR To help Montreal drivers during the winter, the City of Montreal is making over 2000 free parking spots available in 21 designated parking lots around the city. During snow removal periods, you can park in these designated areas for free from 9pm to 7am.
Basically the snow ruins everything. After a snow storm, it's literally impossible to navigate the streets. And don't get me started on parking.
When major snow removal is underway, it's extremely difficult to find parking on Montreal streets. The temporary "no parking" orange signs indicate that a snow-plow is coming, so you better move your car.
Luckily, the city is on our side, and is making over 2000 free parking spots available in 21 designated parking lots during overnight snow removal.
The rules are simple: residents can park free of charge in designated parking lots as of 9 p.m. You must be sure to park only in designated spaces, avoiding areas reserved for permit holders. You must also remove your car from the parking lots by 7 a.m. the next day.
