Montreal's Schwartz's Deli And Celine Dion Want To Send You And Your Friends To Las Vegas
It's time for a classic scavenger hunt!
There are many things that make Montreal what it is that we know and love.
As a local tourist, a few Montreal staples pop-up in mind that is widely known as a must-see for tourists and a mainstay for locals.
Things like Tam-tams, anyone of our massive festivals, $2 ramen on the plateau all come to mind as being 514% on the must-do Montreal bucket list.
Another mainstay that can never be forgotten is Schwartz Deli in the Plateau. This is a must for any Montrealer or tourist that comes through town.
Schwartz's Deli is one of the oldest restaurants in Montreal. The classic eatery opened in 1928 and is surpassed in its Montreal history only by the Montreal Pool Room (founded in 1912) and L'Auberge St-Gabriel (1754).
Though Schwartz's is beat in the duration of their history, they remain one of the most popular spots in Montreal to this day with lineups wrapped around the block just to get in and grab a smoked meat sandwich.
Today, Schwartz's Deli has achieved landmark status in Montreal... and this weekend, an early celebration of their 90th anniversary will have locals running all over town meeting with life-size deli condiments like pickles and mustard. Why you ask?
Well - Schwartz's is turning 90 years old in 2018, and to celebrate, they are throwing a city-wide scavenger hunt with an insane grand prize!
The Great Deli Race in Montreal will see teams of 4 racing between Montreal's Plateau, Mile-End, Old Port and Downtown areas on the greatest Montreal scavenger hunt you could ask for.
The best part, the winning team (of 4) will get first-class tickets to Las Vegas, 5-star hotel accommodation and tickets to see Celine Dion. No surprise there, the Quebecois diva has a long-standing relationship with Schwartz's Deli - being a part owner.
This will all go down this coming Saturday, June 30th.
The race begins 10 a.m. at Schwartz’s and should wind down seven hours later.
The life-size deli condiments will post up at Montreal locations and hand out riddles that, when solved, will take you to your next destination along The Great Deli Race. You know how this works.
The first team of 4 to make it to the very end will win the grand prize of a Las Vegas getaway! Sign me up, I miss Vegas!
To participate in this city-wide scavenger hunt, you and your team of competitors can register on the Schwartz website right here.
Don't forget that Montreal is expecting an intense heatwave starting this weekend. So if you do participate, bring lots of water, grab a friend with A/C in their vehicle or dress appropriately. This one is going to be tough.
Good luck, Montreal!
