Montreal's STM Bus Shelters Get All-New Touch Screens
News, maps, and original content while you wait for the bus.
Since this past fall, Montreal has been getting brand new digital transit bus shelters. Somehow we've missed these entirely. Maybe we're blind, but have you noticed the technological switch?
Created by the STM (obviously) and Quebecor media, the new bus stops are being called "the transit shelters the future," and that's not far from the truth.
New non-digital bus stops are replacing most shelters, but the 40 swanky digital ones are the real news-maker. Here are some features you can look forward to:
- 84 inch interactive screens, with gesture recognition
- STM schedule and map on display
- LCN news, weather, and real-time content available
- Downloadable content and mobile apps
- Virtual catalogs for brands
- 6 ads in rotation
There are a lot of cool features for Montrealers to benefit from these new digital transit shelters, but Quebecor isn't wasting the opportunity to sell ad space. Rotating ads mean 'mo money. Check out the website and you'll see Quebecor's approach (and how they benefit) to the new bus shelters.
If you haven't been lucky enough to use one of the new bus stop shelters (where are these things anyway?) seem them in action through the photos below.
