Ice cream has got to be one of my favorite things to eat. Even if it's cold outside, you can catch me dreaming of this delicious icy treat. But seeing as Summer is rapidly approaching, I can actually tend to my cravings.
During Winter, most ice cream shops close down. They're not really going to get as much business when the world is covered with snow. But they are starting to open up slowly but surely, so it's time to get excited!
Everyone has been to the classic ice cream shops that serve you soft or hard ice cream on a cone or in a bowl, but you will not believe the things that people are doing with ice cream these days. If you haven't branched out and tried out some cool flavors or creations in Montreal, then you are seriously missing out.
Here is your opportunity to check out some really amazing and unique ice cream spots in the city. Check out these places:
This awesome place located in NDG serves ice cream, sorbet, and homemade soft-serve swirls. Ca Lem has some of the most original and delicious flabors you've ever tasted. As soon as I heard about this place, I started to see it everywhere I looked. It made it really hard to resist temptation and not get a cone every single day. They specialize in dipping your ice cream, hence the title. With 21 different varieties of Belgian chocolate, you can be sure that they have something that is going to seriously interest you. They've even got pastry cones at some of their locations. Just check out their Instagram. You'll see what I'm talking about.
This is the first place in all of Montreal to serve Thai rolled ice cream. Going here is an experience, let me tell you! You get to watch them make this delicious dish right before your eyes. They mix all of the ingredients on a frozen plate and they manipulate them until the mixture hardens. They finish by rolling it all up. And it only takes a couple of minutes! Everything in-store is made fresh with local and natural ingredients.
From the outside, it looks like an ordinary little ice cream shop but once you see their menu you'll realize what I'm talking about. With over 20 different artisanal flavors on their menu, they've got something for everyone. Their flavors include pink lemonade, rose water, dulce de leche and crème brûlée. You don't see those every day! They're located right near Laurier Park, so it's the perfect place for ice cream and a nice stroll. They also serve sundaes, milkshakes, and slushies!
If the delicious ice cream isn't enough for you, the sitting area should be reason enough to come check this place out. Their benches and decor are just too cute! Besides that, they serve ice cream, sorbet, chocolate, and pastries. Their inventive flavors change every day and they will always keep you guessing. I love the fact that I can expect something new almost every time I come here.
This artisanal bar actually didn't start off as a store. They were originally a food truck! In 2012, the business began and they've only gotten better since. With soft and hard ice cream, slushies, milkshakes, and sundaes, they are definitely going to give you what you want. They even use fresh and local berries on their sundaes! On another note, they've got these ice cream sandwiches that will make your mouth water. Ice cream between cookies? Yes, please!
