Thousands of caterpillars are invading different cities in Quebec, and the problem could get out of hand.

The towns that are being hit the hardest are Mirabel, Saint-Colomban, Saint-Jérôme and Prévost.

And they're doing more than just damaging the trees and nearby vegetation, these types of caterpillars called "Forest Tent Caterpillars" often make their way into people's homes, where they can cause health problems for children and pets.

In the past, Tent Caterpillars have caused at least 6 major infestations in Quebec, the most recent one happened in 2004

But with a bit of luck and lot of natural predators, the problem could solve itself, but experts fear the problem may get out of control. If that's the case, exterminators will have to be called in.
