If you're like me, and need a deluge of steaming coffee just to feel alive in the morning, it's time to stop feeling bad about it.

According to a new study on coffee consumption, drinking up to four cups of coffee in a day can actually increase your lifespan.

Involving almost 20,000 participants, the study was conducted by researchers at the Hospital de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. Participants were tracked for a period of ten years, with their overall health and rate-of-coffee-consumption measured throughout.

A higher consumption of coffee was linked to a lower risk of death, the study found, which is the best news a coffee-addict can really get in the morning.

To get specific, the study found that people who consumed at least 4 cups of coffee in a day experienced a 64% lower risk of death than people who drank less or no coffee at all.

And the life-giving effects of coffee only get better as you age, at least according to the study’s findings.

Participants aged 45 years or older, who drank an added two cups of coffee per day, were linked to a 30% lower risk of death.

So as the years go on, feel free to pour yourself another few cups in the morning.

“Our findings suggest that drinking four cups of coffee each day can be part of a healthy diet in healthy people” says Dr. Adela Navarro, a cardiologist at Hospital de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain.

Preach, because it’s about damn time all those tea drinkers were put in their place. Thanks, science.
