Across Canada, the cost of living continues to creep up, pushing low and middle-income Canadians out of urban centres and the most desirable neighbourhoods, which are now defined by the extreme wealth of their inhabitants.\nCanada lacks the obscene demonstrations of wealth that characterize the upper classes of the United States, but the country is not without its exclusive communities. Often at the periphery of major cities, these neighbourhoods are increasingly inaccessible.\nTo identify these communities, MoneySense annually compiles a list of "Canada's Richest Places," ranking each location by "average household net worth." These numbers "highlight the scale of wealth inequality in Canada," the publication states.\nBelow are listed the top 20 richest districts according to the MoneySense 2018 ranking. Below each entry is a short excerpt of descriptions of each jurisdiction taken from their websites.\nView this post on Instagram Gail and Phil are owners, hop growers, brewers, and community supporters. Spread the word and tag anyone who might be interested. ✅ Warming Centres and additional shelter spaces are open due to the cold weather. If you're concerned about an individual, check in with them safely to see whether they want help, then direct them to a warming centre or call 3-1-1. ❄️ Here are more ways you can help when it snows: 1️⃣ Clear snow and ice from sidewalks around your property by 10 am the morning after a snowfall, seven days a week. 2️⃣ Avoid unnecessary driving in snow and ice and make sure you have weather appropriate tires. Check transit schedules at http://translink.cafor commuting alternatives. 3️⃣ If driving during a snow fall, please stay at a safe distance when following or give way to a salt and plow truck. 4️⃣ When it snows, move your car to a side street or garage so City crews can plow main streets more effectively.
