We're Montrealers, a few flakes shouldn't cause such a big deal. Plus the accidents happened on a slanted street, and aren't those the first streets we clear?\nSo what happened?\nWell according to Journal De Montreal and the people responsible for the roadway, this is how it went down.\n1. At 6:00 am, the snow clearing crews were ready to deal with all the snow that was headed our way. But the snow wasn't the problem here, it was black ice.\n2. At about 7:30 am, a layer of black ice formed rapidly on Beaver Hall.\n3. Since the snow clearing crews prioritize hills, the salt truck had already started salting one side of the street.\n4. Before the salt truck could finish the other side of the street, the foreman interrupted the work and sent the truck over to Saint-Urbain, Sherbrooke and Jeanne-Mance, because there were some emergencies.\n5. Unfortunately the truck didn't get back to finish the second half of the job on time, which is why at around 9:30 am all those buses and cars started losing control.\nThe video itself got over 10 million views and the accident ended up involving 14 vehicles, including 2 buses and a cop car.\nThe people in charge of snow clearing said that the sector is very dense, so they can't be everywhere at once. which means it is possible this kind of thing will happen again in the future.\nSo I guess we'll just have to be careful.\nAdd mtlblog on Snapchat.
