Thanks to a data-sharing agreement with the Montreal urban agglomeration, various criminal activities are now documented on this interactive map found on the official site of the City Of Montreal.

Via ville.montreal.qc.ca

This interactive map aggregates various crimes and their relative information from November 2015 to November 2016. By hovering over the blue dots and clicking on them visitors can take note of crimes in a particular borough of the city.

For the moment, the map is active for only the West-side of the city, but still informs residents by highlighting crime hot spots like Fairview Point Claire shopping mall where eight vehicles were reported stolen,  and 19 thefts from vehicles.  On top of that,11 cases of mischief, five armed robberies, and three break-ins were reported around the area.

Being aware of the crime-level in a given area of the city shouldn't instill panic in citizens, rather it should create a sense of shared security,  patrol and crime prevention. By calling the police or reporting any suspicious behavior, every citizen can help prevent crime!
