In case you didn't know yet, Montreal has just opened 8 recreational pot dispensaries that open at 10:00 am today.\nMerry Christmas to us!\nUnfortunately, the only thing the news is covering are the locations of these stores.\nREAD ALSO: McDonald’s Is Now Serving “Waffle Fries Poutine” In Canada\nBut the first thing I was wondering about when I heard about these stores opening is: Will I get arrested if I shop there?\nSure these shops exist, but they are still technically illegal for the time being. And the mayor did say that federal laws should apply. But the owners of Cannabis Culture say they haven't been contacted by the police yet.\nSo I decided to see what happens when these kinds of stores get raided in Ontario.\nWhen a shop was raided last September in Peterborough, only 2 employees were arrested, but none of the clients.\nAnd when a Cannabis Culture store in Toronto was raided in June, Jodie Emery was quoted saying:\n"As far as I know, no patients and no customers were arrested."\nOf course that was Ontario, so there is no way of predicting how the Montreal police will react.\nAccording to CBC, the police said they "intervene when there are violations of the law that governs drugs and other substances."\nWe contacted the SPVM to ask them, but haven't heard back yet. Until then, if you decide to shop at Cannabis Culture, you're doing so at your own risk. Although it doesn't seem like you'd actually get arrested.\nSo if you're brave enough to go, here they are:\n1863 Amherst St. \t1412 Pie-IX Blvd. \t8870 St-Michel Blvd. \t7130 St-Laurent Blvd. \t2200 Mount Royal Ave. E. \t3804 Saint Laurent Blvd. \t1431B Bishop St. \t4961 Queen Mary Rd.\nGood Luck!\nAdd mtlblog on Snapchat.
