Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate. #PromiseKept\n— Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) June 20, 2018\nUnder Canada's Cannabis Act, provinces are granted a grace period of 8-12 weeks to get properly set up for the legal distribution of Marijuana.\nThis delay will include local law enforcement preparing themselves for roadside sobriety tests, and provincial governments to decide on factors such as home cultivation and public consumption.\nQuebec, Manitoba, and Nunavut all want to forbid their citizens from growing recreational marijuana at home, even after cannabis is legalized federally.\nThis is due to the fact that the permitted amount of plants in provinces that favour home cultivation can produce well above the legal amount permitted to be in any ones home at one given time.\nExpect a lot of stories to come out about these debates, and remember to get out to Quebec's election this fall and ensure our provincial government won't fall into the hands of politicians vocally against the Cannabis Act of Canada.\nWith the current 8-12 week grace period, you can expect to be able to get legal Marijuana in September 2018.\nUPDATE - Justin Trudeau confirms October 17, 2018, as the official date of legal marijuana in Canada.\nCongratulations, Canada! This is a victory.\nSource.
