A new season comes with new rules, which is why we're here to remind you that in Quebec, your winter tires must be on from December 1 to March 15.

These four tires must "meet established standards and [be] in good condition."

Fines for failing to abide by this rule can cost you anywhere between $200 and $300, plus additional fees.

December 1

Mandatory deadline to have your winter tires on in Quebec

The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec explains that winter tires become mandatory in December because "as soon as the temperature drops below 7°C, or when there is ice or snow on the road, the rubber compound of summer and all-season tires hardens and loses its grip."

MTL Blog contacted the Canadian Tire in Verdun to see how busy it is there right now and Samuel, one of the garage's employees, said "appointments for tire changes are full for the next two weeks."

So if people want to get their tires changed there, he told me they'll have to leave their car at the shop for a day or two.

And it's likely that this isn't the only garage all booked up in the city.

So if you haven't made an appointment to get your tires changed yet, it's time to hop on some calls!
