Every couple of years or so the general opinion changes on whether or not coffee is good for you. It causes heart cancer, but it has antioxidants that prevent other cancers, but it increases blood pressure, but it cures Alzheimer's. Seriously guys, make up your mind already. Well at least you can rest easy for a little while because it seems coffee is good for you once again. (Drink up quick, they might change their minds any minute)

A panel made up of the world's top nutritionists studied the long term health effects of drinking coffee and they found that coffee can help reduce cardiovascular disease and lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, according to Vox. In fact, they recommend drinking 3-5 cups of coffee a day as part of a healthy diet.

They study notes that drinking black coffee is the best option because adding sugar and cream or milk adds their own separate set of risks. This was an observational study and did not factor in diet, exercise, age, education or income. They simply followed coffee drinkers and non-coffee drinkers for a long period of time.
