How necessary is a degree in 2015? Is three years of hard work really worth over three years of experience in 2015? So many questions a young Montrealer will ask himself, so little answers.\nI personally do not believe in degrees anymore. I have seen too many friends of mine struggle through years of studying to end up with a 9 to 5 job in a company they do not appreciate the vision nor brand.\nWe live in a world where most people are too insecure concerning their future & career, therefore cutting themselves from great opportunities. It is rare, and beautiful, to see young professionals be confident in their capacity to succeed without taking the secure path society has crafted for them.\nNow, you will tell me "you need experience to get hired, end of discussion". Indeed, you need experience. Luckily, this is where your city comes in and provides you the needed ressources to succeed without a university degree.\nIn Montreal, we are extremely lucky to be the center of evolving industries such as the video games industry, the social media industry, the digital music industry and many more. Our city is a "plaque-tournante" and you need to use that to your advantage.\nMontreal is opening doors everywhere for you to intern. For example, Ubisoft has positions available, Ranked Media as well and even MTL Blog ! From different sources, Quebec students spend over 6000$ a year for their degree, how amazing would your own company be with all that money?\nMy best advice for you if you are looking to push your own projects, which I personally support you to do so, is to research which industry you want to work in/are passionate about, check for available internships and finally build yourself a solid portfolio which will represent your talent.\nRemember to be confident, if you decide to take the lone wolf road that goes accross society's structured walls, you will confront many obstacles, but stay firm. Be confident in your abilities, be confident of your vision, be confident you are indeed worthy of important tasks.\nYou are young, smart, able to achieve new goals & accomplish new objectives, use your advantages and build your own road.
