On several occasions in recent years, québécoise tennis pro Eugénie Bouchard has accepted dates with fans to further good causes and follow through on lost bets. Now, once again, she has taken up the daring initiative, offering a date at auction with a starting bid of $2,500. At the time of writing, the highest bid is $12,000. This time, the date is Bouchard's contribution to the All In Challenge, which asks athletes, celebrities, and artists to join the cause to help supply food to people in need during the coronavirus crisis. "100% of the proceeds go directly to Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry," Bouchard explained in an Instagram post. The winner and a friend will have the opportunity to attend one of Bouchard's tennis tournaments, like the U.S. Open, French Open, or Wimbledon, with round-trip airfare covered. They will be invited to sit in the players' box with the athlete's entire team to enjoy the match. Afterwards, the happy duo will be able to share a meal with Eugénie and leave with a racket and shoes signed by the tennis star. "I think it's so important to come together during these tough times," she explains in a video posted to the All In Challenge website. The auction ends on Friday, May 15 at 9 p.m. EST. A post shared by Genie Bouchard (@geniebouchard) on Apr 28, 2020 at 7:08pm PDT Genie had first accepted a date with a fan back in 2017 after tweeting a bet that the Atlanta Falcons would beat the New England Patriots (they didn't). She kept her word and the surprising couple saw each other several times in the following year, even inspiring a movie pitch that still hasn't seen the light of day. Most recently, during a live Instagram video with sports host Allie LaForce on April 10, 2020, the athlete agreed to go out with YouTuber and comedian Bob Menery. Menery promised to donate US$4,000 to support hospital employees in exchange for a date with his idol.
