4 Things To Help Students Adjust To Life After Frosh
Hey Montreal let us help you get back to normal.
Well its been a fun few days of debauchery. If you were lucky enough to get all frosh-ified, then you know what I'm talking about. Waking up to the sweet smell of drank, chanting randomly in the streets, and meeting scores of new people are only some of the highlights you got to experience during the last few magical days. Oh, yah, and the epic parties. Life may seem a little bit grim as you stare down the rest of the year, but don't be blue. The academic year has tons more fun to offer, so here are a few things to keep you smiling as you adjust to life after frosh.
1. Meeting More New People
Lets face it, you don't remember 80% of the people you interacted with during Frosh, and they don't remember you. Its just a fact of drunk interactions. Now, as you begin to traverse campus and go to class sober, you'll get even more chances to meet like minded people, only without all of the inebreation and social lubrication. Striking conversation may be a little more tough, but the quality of conversation will go well beyond the standard "what rez are you in? what program? etc." You'll meet new people and create quality friends, or even just cement the drunken friendships you gained while frosh-ing.
2. Discovering Montreal
Frosh took you places, both mentally and physically, only I doubt you remember exactly where you went and how you got there. With so many nights full of adventure and shenanigans ahead of you, you can begin to discover all of the cool spots the city of Montreal has to offer, and actually remember where they are. This way, when you have friends/family visiting, you'll look super cool by showing off your knowledge of the city. Don't be bound by your university's bubble; get out, explore, and find out whats cool to you in Montreal. Obviously MTL Blog is always a solid resource in that department, so check in to see whats happening in the city.
3. Non-Frosh Parties
The level of epic-ness achieved at Frosh is nearly unparalleled, but only nearly. A lot of returning students didn't get the chance to let out a summers worth of drunken frustration, so they have to let loose in the many days to come. Don't miss out and jump on the band wagon to experience true university parties with people who have been doing it for years. You've already gotten enough experience during Frosh, now is the time to apply your party skills to the city at large and get trashy with your many peers. House parties, bars, and club events are only some of options you now have to look forward to. There may not be +600 people at every party, but there is definitely fun to be had.
4. Classes Begin, No Seriously
Ok before you bite my head off for suggesting that classes will help you cope in a frosh-less life, lets be a little real here for a second. You are a university student, and that title entirely implies you're in school to learn. I know the thought of classes seems dreadful, especially after Frosh, but once you get into the swing of things, you may end up enjoying what your learning. University is the next step in your education, so try and have some academic fun with it as well...at least until exam season.
