The world's largest light festival, Illumi Cavalia, is opening in Laval this Friday and it's going to make every other Christmas village seem small in comparison. One of the main attractions will be a 47 metre tall Christmas tree, which even Santa will be impressed by. Find pictures of this illuminated village below! Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. Halloween may have been postponed this year but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's nearly time to take down those Halloween decorations and replace them with Christmas villages. It's time to celebrate a new holiday season with even more lights and an even bigger event. Illumi Cavalia, the world's largest sound and light show officially opens this Friday, November 1. UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, Illumi has postponed its opening to November 8. More than 10 million lights will light up the sky in Laval, bringing to life eight ethereal-themed worlds for guests to discover. The event is brought to us by the creators of Cavalia and takes up over 40,000 square metres — that's nearly the size of six football fields — of holiday festivities jammed in. As reported earlier, smack dab in the middle of Illumi is the Tree of Lights, a massive 47-metre tall Christmas tree adorned with 28,000 sparkling bulbs. You don't even have to pay to see it; as tall as the Statue of Liberty, the tree can be seen from kilometres away. But you probably won't mind shelling out the $18.50 entrance fee just to experience everything Illumi has to offer. There's really nothing quite like it in the world. It's like Vegas and Santa did a whole lot of acid together one night and came up with their dream show. As you walk down the pathway into the Dazzling World of Lights you'll be met with worlds themed after the African Savanna, Santa's North Pole home, Japan of yesterday, a European carrousel square, a mixture of the North and South Poles, the America of Excess, and Feliz Navidad.
