Montreal Artist Heidi Taillefer Is The Epitome Of Surreal Beauty
An artist who blurs the line between what is beautiful and what is grotesque.
The bizarre can be beautiful, and no artist proves this better than Heidi Taillefer. Now a renowned international artist, Taillefer studied at McGill and still calls Montreal home. A student of the humanities, Taillefer studied a broad range of artistic works and texts, a scope of interests which is quite evident in her work. A fusion of ancient and modern, divine and demonic, mystical and technological, and altogether awe-inspiring, Taillefer's pieces are unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Take a peek into Taillefer's beautifully deranged paintings below, some of which you may recognize. Some are taken from Taillefer's 'Vicissitudes' collection, featured at the Cirque du Soleil International Headquarters in Montreal. Film fans will recognize the reshaped Shiva-figure that was the featured icon for the 2010 Fantasia Film Festival. Everyone else can just enjoy.
