Every week in Montreal there are dozens of musicians making their way through, waiting to play their tunes to eager fans in the city. There's never a shortage of new bands to discover & great acts to check out every night! This week though? Our city is going all out.

1. You Won’t

Genre: They have yet to really classify themselves, but they've shared a stage with The Lumineers, The Joy Formidable, and Josh Ritter just to name a few.

Why you're going to the show: They have a reputation for very dynamic and unorthodox shows that have not only gotten them opening spots with the big names mentioned above, but kudos from SPIN, NPR, and The New York Times.

2. Jessie Ware

Genre: Electro/RnB

Why you're going to the show: This girl may be known as a rising pop star with great hair, but she's also got a voice that somehow mixes Whitney Houston, Sade, and British electronic music. And it works!

3.  Shad

Genre: hip-hop

Why you're going to the show: Besides the fact that he has two killer opening acts (Hannah Georgas/We Are The City) this guy knows how to make hip-hop music fun. You'll be dancing your Wednesday night away to Shad's quick witted lyrics!

4. Twin Forks

Date: November 7th

Place: Cabaret du Mile-End

Genre: Acoustic/Indie/Pop

Why you're going to the show: If you're like me, half the reason is because you used to scream the lyrics to Dashboard Confessional in the shower as a teenager, and you're really excited Chris Carraba is back with something new. Also, Twin Forks has managed to cross the emo music you've always loved with pop beats you just can't shake!

5. The Paper Kites

Date: November 8th

Place: Il Motore

Genre: Acoustic/Alt/Indie

Why you're going to the show: They're coming to see us all the way from Australia. They've never been to Canada before, and they have gorgeous music. Literally, it is beautiful to listen to. Perfect show to wind-down your week before a crazy Saturday!

6. The Pretty Reckless

Why you're going to the show: You've always wanted to see Jenny from Gossip Girl in person, and honestly how did that cute innocent teenager become the front-woman to an edgy rock band anyway?! Well she did, and she's really good at it.

Why you're going to the show: Okay let's face it, you probably already spend your Saturday at New City Gas. But if you're not already planning on going, Alesso is going to introduce you to an awesome party night in MTL.
