• If you're already in the search for a winter road trip, put Arrowhead Provincial Park in Ontario on the top of your list.
  • At this park, you can skate, snowshoe, ski, and everything in between.
  • The park hosts "fire and ice" skating evenings. Find out when they happen below!

Throughout the winter, I know we are constantly searching for cool and unique activities to do and skating is at the top of everyone’s list. If it's not skating on your to-do list, it's definitely a road trip to see all the snowy wonders that surround our city.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is located about 6 hours away from Montreal and it is totally worth the drive. This 1.3 km skating trail is no longer considered the best-kept secret in Ontario since it has gained a ton of popularity over the years.

The ice trail opened in 2012 with the whimsical vision of creating a bucket list experience for those who are passionate about nature and the outdoors. Along this trail, skaters get to slide through the thick Muskoka forest. There is something mystical and romantic about gliding on a blade through a sheet of ice as the stars light up the sky that simply screams Canada.

After a big snowfall, the rink becomes an even prettier sight as snow-covered trees are everywhere you turn. A mix of the sound of nature combined with the music of blades carving through the ice resonates through the air, making a great soundtrack for your day.

On selected nights during January and February, "fire and ice" events will take over the trail. When the sun goes down, the trail is illuminated by hundreds of Tiki torches, which light your away as you skate your way through the evergreens.
