Les Vergers Lafrance is celebrating 25 years in operation with a season-long apple-picking festival. Visitors will be able to sample a number of apple treats and even ride an on-site ferris wheel. Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. If there was a physical form for an ode to apples, Vergers Lafrance would win the title. This lovely orchard is located less than an hour away from Montreal and may lay claim to the most beautiful orchard in Quebec. With apple-picking season upon us, it's the perfect time to visit. Plus this year, Vergers Lafrance is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a giant ferris wheel on the estate grounds, which means you can also enjoy the breathtaking view of the Saint-Joseph du Lac region. The wheel kind of sums up the orchards: beautiful and fun. Located in the Lower Laurentian, Les Vergers Lafrance is an orchard where everything apple is honoured. Seriously, if you can make it with apples, they have it; pastries, butters, ciders, gins, and brandies are all stocked in the boutique. If you don't walk out without at least tasting their famous donuts, you're a stronger person than most. Their apple picking season is already open. With over 13,000 apple trees and 15 apple varieties, you are sure to come home with more than you could ever use. But even if you want to take a lazy day, walk around the orchard and just appreciate the view, this is the ideal time of year. The ferris wheel runs every weekend from now until Thanksgiving Day (which is Monday, October 14 for us Canadians). It's $4 per person, or if you're with your family $12 for 2 adults and 2 children. And that's really nothing considering it is one of the few orchards that don't charge a general admission to the site. Just in case all that apple-eating feels a little too healthy there is also a hot-dog and pancake kiosk to visit. Thank you. With such a unique chance to view apple orchards from the top of a Ferris Wheel, this might be our newest orchard pick for the season.
