Montreal Museums Day is coming back this spring. For the occasion, over two dozen local museums welcome the public free of charge. Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. Returning this year for its 34th edition, Montreal Museums Day is an opportunity for residents to impress their friends and dates without spending a cent. Last year, dozens of local museums took part in the event, with most offering free admission to their permanent exhibitions. Favourites like the Musée des beaux-arts, Pointe-à-Callière museum of archaeology, Biosphere, and McCord Museum are among the regular participants. Details about the 2020 event are few, but if it's anything like previous years, Montrealers will get to museum hop between over 30 institutions with "more than a hundred exhibitions and activities [...] offered free of charge to visitors," according to the 2019 Facebook event page. Artists from Diversité artistique Montréal (DAM) animated the day with performances throughout the city. In years past, free shuttle buses carried museum-goers between sites. The day is organized by MTL Museums, a group whose "mission is to promote Montréal's museums by encouraging their activities and defending their interests, as well as by developing communication, mutual aid and cooperation." Montreal Museums Day falls on May 31, 2020, according to the organization's website. See the video preview for the 2018 event below: Le décompte est lancé!
