Last August I was at metro Square Victoria OAC. I was hot and sweaty and let's just say rather unkempt. The metro pulled in, the doors opened and out swarmed some of the most beautiful, poised, well-dressed people I've ever laid eyes on. Every last one of them, from the 20-year-old college kid to the 90-year-old man with his cane, was dressed head to toe in white. Not ivory, not off-white. Crisp, cool white. Ah yes, it was that time of year. I was getting a tiny glimpse into what the incredibly chic Dîner En Blanc Montreal party must be like. And I've never wanted to use the word 'dapper' more. Dîner en Blanc might be the most anticipated party of the year, with a waiting list of thousands, it is also the most exclusive. And it's back in Montreal August 22nd. Thousands of party-goers, dressed only in white, descend on a public Montreal space to dine and dance (but with the utmost decorum) at what is heralded as a "chic picnic."
