• MTL Blog recently stumbled on New York's Adirondack Salt Cave and felt the need to share this finding with our readers considering it's only a short drive from Montreal.
  • A visit here is sure to be one of the most relaxing experiences of your life.
  • Read all about it below!

The Adirondack Salt Cave is found less than three hours from Montreal and is a family-owned business that can be found at the foot of the Adirondacks. The luxurious services offered at this establishment include reiki, cupping massages, and my latest discovery, healing methods in salt caves. Halotherapy, which is the term for it, involves using salt caves as a therapeutic space.

The human-made Himalayan salt cave is supposed to "reproduce the unique microclimate and the healing properties of the deep salt caves within the Himalayan Mountains," as stated on the website

What happens when you heat salt is it becomes incredibly "dry and kinetically more active." This treatment is said to reduce inflammation and open the airway passages that help with your breathing.

All you will need to do is unwind on a lounge chair while listening to music and aerosolized dry salt is scattered through the room, which is as relaxing as it sounds.

"Regular and consistent Halotherapy, in combination with your fitness routine, may improve oxygen circulation and increase the overall sense of well being."

As the first business in the area to offer Halotherapy also known as dry salt therapy, a growing trend in the world of holistic wellness.

The "cave" incorporates a variety of features including lights, sounds, and textures, all of which play a part in the calming experience.

The design of this salt cave "blends the industrial heritage of a more than 100-year-old garment factory with the natural elements of over 7,000 pounds of Himalayan Salt and technology to create a Unique Wellness Experience."

This relaxing experience will cost you $40 for a single session. And, according to the website "spending 45 minutes in the salt cave is the equivalent of approximately one full week at the ocean!"

So, I guess $40 is a lot cheaper than a vacation.

As someone who is always looking for new ways to relax and get pampered and I can't think of something that sounds as incredible as this and look forward to spending 45 minutes of pure relaxation when I go!
