At the Verger Champêtre farm in Quebec, you can take an alpaca or a mini horse for a walk through an orchard! This activity is perhaps most fun in the fall, when activity at the orchard is high! Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. I like alpacas. They're furry, always look like they're smiling or smirking, and while curious little bundles of friendliness they also express their displeasure or annoyance by spitting. If that's not adorable, I don't know what is. And now you can take your own furry little spitting friend out for a leisurely stroll at the picturesque Verger Champêtre farm in Granby. Just an hour drive from Montreal, Verger Champêtre is home to over 250 animals in their petting zoo. Lots of the animals are roaming the trails of the massive farm, so you never know what you could run into. But the alpacas are the stars (at least in my book). If you want to embrace the fall, there are a ton of activities at the farm. You can pick your own fruits, picnic, hang out in the vegetable gardens, check out the petting zoos, and buy homemade products like pies and jams. But who would want to do any of that when there are alpacas to walk? Even if they aren't your thing, you can also choose to take a miniature horse for a saunter through the orchards. The animals actually do love the company, and according to the website are happy to be led around. It's a win-win. Admission to the farm is $5 for adults and that gives you access to all trails, the mini-farm, vegetable gardens, the orchard, the and petting zoos. Until the end of October, there are also tractor rides. And for only $15 you can take your mini-horse or alpaca for a 20-minute walk. There is a maximum of two adults at a time though (and two children if you're so inclined) — so friends will have to find their own.
