Moving Day On Mount-Royal Avenue In Montreal In The 1930s
And you thought moving day sucked because of the rain yesterday.
If you were one of the unlucky souls who had to move yesterday, you probably had a very shitty day. Moving day is brutal every year, it's Canada day and you can't take part in all the fun because you're stuck doing some heavy lifting. Even if you're not moving, chances are one of your friends suckered you into helping them. But what made this moving day particularly crappy is the rain. As if the day wasn't hard enough, now you have the added risk of having all of your possessions soaked and ruined.
But then again we're pretty lucky, we at least have access to moving trucks, which wasn't the case in the 1930s. At that time, moving day took place on May 1st and you had to do all your moving with a horse and buggy. So I don't know about you guys but I think that scenario sucks way more than a few drops of rain. So for all of you still in pain from yesterday, living out of a pile of boxes in your living room and struggling to figure out where the hell you packed your tv remote as you sit on your damp couch, at least you didn't have to move 1930s style.
