Fall is coming sooner than most of us would like to admit. And, though it's beautiful, the only true reason why Montrealers don’t like fall is because we know that a few short weeks after those colourful trees paint our city, the brutal winter follows.

But despite the inescapable sense of impending wintry doom, fall is without a doubt one of the most picturesque times of the year.

The beautiful foliage surrounding us makes the season one of the best times to take a road trip and do I have the perfect fall getaway activity for you.

Pumpkinferno is a celebration of the arrival of autumn. The award-winning festival of jack o'lanterns takes place each year at the Upper Canada Village in Ontario, just a 2-hour drive from Montreal.

Attendees get to wander among giant jack o'lantern figures and structures. These mesmerizing installations of glowing pumpkins are something all ages can enjoy.

You will be in awe with every step you take. Every corner is filled with spectacular and original décor that all use pumpkins as a building material. Both whimsical and haunting, Pumpinferno is a fall event not to be missed.

Over seven thousand pumpkins will line the 19th century architecture and landscape of Upper Canada Village. It's fun and provides endless social media fodder.

The tour takes about forty minutes and I suggest you wear comfortable clothes and protective footwear.

Rain or shine, this event goes on so make sure you check the forecast before heading out. But remember to look cute, it is a photogenic destination.

The event begins Friday, September 27th! Tickets are between $16 and $18 for adults (19 years old +) depending on the night you attend. Pumpkinferno is closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
