Quebec is one of the most beautiful provinces in the country. Its abundance of nature is a treat to all of us that live here. One of the most incredible things about Quebec is the richness of its national parks. This is something that I, along with many Montrealers who confine themselves to their urban bubble, don't take advantage of enough — until now that is! To encourage residents to better benefit from our regional wealth, the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (sépaq) has decided that on September 7, 2019, for National Parks day, entrance to the 28 provincial parks will be free of charge. Among the parks on this list, of course, are notables like Mount Tremblant, National Park of Great Gardens, Frontenac Lake at Barbue, and Jacques Cartier National Park. This is the perfect opportunity to go on a road trip with friends of even solo and enjoy this spectacular gift offered to us by nature and under the stewardship of our government. These parks also offer campsites and accommodation rentals so you can turn this free day into a super cheap weekend escape, something we all tend to need every now and then. There is so much to do outdoors, from hiking, to camping, to simply roaming around and taking it all in. We Quebec natives sometimes forget how lucky we are to live in an area that has so much to offer. Montrealers, especially, may often forget that an entire natural world exists beyond our island. Make use of this free access to also experience all that the regions have to offer.
