The Winterlights event at Naumkeag in Stockbridge, Massachusetts will make you feel like you're in a Disney fairytale. The idyllic estate is transformed into an almost mystical display in December. It's worth the road trip from Montreal. Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. We are all looking for that perfect winter wonderland escape that will take us on a holiday journey, allowing us to connect with our inner child. All around Montreal are wintery paradises designed to give participants the illusion of entering the cheesiest holiday movie. Although there are a ton of incredible things going on in Montreal, sometimes we need to leave our city for the weekend and explore new territories. One set of events that's definitely worth a road trip is the gardens of light in towns across Massachusetts. This year, according to the event website, it's going to be “bigger and better” than ever. This magically festive experience will take place at three different garden properties: Naumkeag in Stockbridge, the Stevens Coolidge Place in North Andover, and new this year, the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate in Canton. Of these, Stockbridge is closest to Montreal — just over four hours away by car. But each of these locations will dazzle participants "with thousands of shimmering and artfully designed holiday lights." Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in scavenger hunts, indulge in food and refreshments, and create crafts. A shuttle bus included with the cost of your ticket will take you directly to the action. This year at the Naumkeag estate, organizers have "doubled the amount of lights, added new sections of our historic gardens, and created a whole new experience that has something for everyone," according to the Facebook event page. The "cottage-style" home is perhaps most famous for its extensive gardens where the imagination runs wild. Hundreds of photos of the Stockbridge house posted online from years past show the impressive extent of the displays. The country gardens become an almost mythical, boundless space among the lights in the dark. View this post on Instagram The Winterlights at Naumkeag were absolutely beautiful tonight!
