Environment Canada Warning: Montreal Will Be Hit With 20mm Of Freezing Rain

It's now the official countdown to the holidays, and while we all cross our fingers that a sudden snowstorm will take over just in time for a white Christmas this year, it looks like Mother Nature has some other plans in store. In fact Environment Canada has issued a warning that Montreal will be hit with a significant amount freezing rain.

TL;DR Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Montreal and surrounding areas, with up to 20mm of rainfall expected for tonight. The freezing conditions transform into rain tomorrow with significant rainfall amounts expected. Hazardous and icy conditions are expected across the city.

Let's face it, the weather lately has been less than desirable. We've been dealing with flash snowstorms that quickly turn into water and slush, unbearably cold temperatures, and of course warmer weather that leads to rainy conditions.

Needless to say, we really can't take anymore.

That's why it makes it even more disappointing to find out that Environment Canada has issued a massive weather alert this morning for the city.

Get ready for some freezing rain to hit Montreal this evening, followed by even worse conditions over the next few days. It's expected that we'll be seeing up to 20mm of icy rainfall tonight.

Montreal isn't the only region affected either. The winter rainstorm will begin later today across most of Southwestern Quebec and will spread as the evening continues. Eastern and central Quebec will be hit with the same conditions by tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow only gets worse. By Friday the freezing rain will turn into normal rainfall, which leads to even more dangerous circumstances.

Environment Canada is advising Montrealers to avoid travel if possible. Areas such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots are going to be covered in ice, leading to extremely hazardous conditions.

As of now, it looks like the holiday weather is going to be absolutely terrible. Stay tuned for more information on Montreal's weather.
