Every year, Grand Prix makes a feature on the Main. Until Sunday June 9, Saint- Laurent Boulevard will be blocked from moving vehicles between Avenue Des Pins and Sherbrooke. Aside from expanded terraces and cold beers, music and sweet street food, Grand Prix on the Main allows our favorite fashion boutiques to participate in massive sidewalk sales.
Rain or shine, (although mostly rain for this weekend..), almost every boutique partakes in the opportunity. On average, the various stores will be offering their clients between forty and sixty percent off on the merchandise placed on their turf.
Check out some of our store picks that are offering the best deals and merchandise:
Offering both women and men's wear, Johnny Boy carries casual street wear. The boutique's sidewalk sale merchandise includes women's shoes from $20- $35. All of their clothing is also fifty percent off.
In our opinion, Boutique Kooka is one of the trendiest women's boutiques in Montreal. Although their most chic garments will be found inside the store, where discounts will not be as big as those on the sidewalks, sale items include sweet summer must- haves like short shorts and neon tanks ranging from $7.99- $15.99.
Aritmetik is boutique that caters to both men and women. The store serves a wide a range of shoppers. Its staff describes their inventory to be "clubbing fashion". Sadly, its sidewalk sale merchandise doesn't exactly match that description. Nonetheless, their discounted items are being sold for as low as $5, and the most expensive piece is $45.
Although it does not have its own boutique on the Main, POP- HDWR, a merchandise retailer that caters to skater dudes and snowboarders has collaborated with Ballroom night club, which has enabled them to set up a tent with their merchandise in front of the venue. The tent's items include super stylish tanks, beanies and awesome snapbacks. As promotion, the brand's t-shirts and tanks are being sold at $25 each or 2 for $40.
Don't let the light rain scare you away from the Main's heavy sales, which will run until Sunday, June 9 between Avenue Des Pins and Sherbrooke.
Guys, I'm going to be straight-up with you: I'm a pretty big party animal. For me, the weekends are made for living it up with friends... and the weekdays? Yeah, they're not much different.
I mean, I know I'm not the only one. Plenty of us know how to balance that party life along with our responsibilities, like work and school. And some of us... well, some of us are doing our best.
Thankfully, there are many solid, classic spots to get turnt during the weekday in Montreal. Some spots even have drink specials and/or events going down on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, meaning you don't have to stop the party just because it's a weekday!
Okay, you can, but trust, without this Rosemont bar de quartier, your week would be super boring. A night out at St. Ed means basking in their signature casual/crazy atmosphere, no matter when you go.
But if you show up on a Wednesday, you'll make it just in time for their ladies night, where ladies get free shots and DJ Carl Muren from Beach club, as well as DJ Wordy Word from the Montreal Canadiens.
Oh, and if you're an oyster lover, then good news. Thursdays at Le St. Ed means $1 oysters during their 5 a 7, plus live music by DJ Figure 8 from Omnikrom. Sounds like a good time to me!
I honestly believe with all my heart and soul that the terrasse at the Main's Don B. is what dreams are made of. The terrasse - and the bar in general - has one of the most chill, relaxing, and fun vibes, it's basically the perfect spot to chill on a Tuesday or Thursday. You're gonna wanna be there early on Tuesdays as it gets packed pretty early!
But if the good vibes aren't enough for you, then no worries - their awesome weeknight events are 514% going to impress you! Don B is famous for their Tuesday night "Mardi A Nanas" event, where ladies get VIP treatment from 10 PM to 12 AM.
They've got even more shit going down on Thursdays with DJ SHASH'U who also mixed at Osheaga this year. Their "Jeudi Swish" weekly events have specials on Ketel One and Veuve Cliquot bottles before midnight, as well as 10 shots of Jager for $30. Party on, friends. Party on.
If you're looking for a good time, look no further than this extremely fun Old Montreal bar/club. Peopl is pretty much the choice for any and every Montreal who loves to party, and it isn't hard to see why.
Although Peopl is fun every single day of the week, they really know how to amp up a weekday! On Wednesdays, a trip to Peopl will score you VIP treatment for ladies until 1:00 AM, plus house and hip-hop beats mixed by DJs Avi Large, Ken-J, and Arabika, as part of their "Mercredi Bazaar" nights.
Oh, and PS, if weekdays aren't your cup of tea, no worries. Sunday night, Peopl starts off your week the right way with their "La Parisienne" soiree: a mix of afrobeat and French rap music, mixed by DJ Ken-J.
Once again, make sure to arrive there early. Peopl is THE Sunday spot in Montreal so it gets full early!
Personal story time: some of my very best memories ever were created at this St. Laurent/Prince Arthur institution. It's one of the first clubs I ever went to, and it remains one of my faves to this day.
Of course, that's because of how much fun it is! During the weekend, Rouge's two floors can get kind of crowded - which is why my favourite time to hit it is on Thursday nights. Although it's still packed full of fun, Thursdays tend to be a little bit more chill... but still wild, in typical Rouge fashion.
Plus, Thursday nights also happen to be VIP ladies nights at Rouge, which means for $10, ladies get open bar all. Night. Long. Guys, BRB, I've found my new home.
Honestly, Montreal's party scene doesn't just have to be a Thursday - Saturday situation. Party fans, let your wild flags fly free, and enjoy all that Montreal's nightlife has to offer, any day of the week!
Luckily, there are a couple of spots in Montreal that offer some delicious food for a great price. You just have to know where to look. And if you live in the Plateau then look no further because there's a cool, little spot that offers food and drinks for a very appealing price.
James Bar (3910 St Laurent Blvd) is a new gem on St. Laurent with a pretty unique atmosphere. This trendy and fun bar is named after James McGill, and as soon as you step in, you'll notice some pretty familiar faces. The bar's entire theme is based from all your favourite James', like James Dean and James Franco. I mean, what's better than sitting at your favorite bar enjoying some delicious wings while staring deep into James Franco's eyes? Nothing.
Oh and did I mention their delicious food? Crispy chicken wings, edamame (who doesn't love edamame?), nachos, crispy pickles, Dean poutine (named after James Dean of course), burgers, and mac n' cheese sticks to name some of their grub. Best part is, all of their food is $5.
Yup, you read that right. St. Laurent Boulevard now has a spot where you can get some tasty food that won't hurt your bank account. Well, unless you're there every.single.day. Which, you might be, once you realize how cool this place really is!
Now, it wouldn't be a 'James' theme bar without lots and lots of Jameson! In addition to a delicious $5 food menu, on Thursdays, James Bar also has $1 Jameson shots and $5 Caesars all night long. Yes, you head it right. Did Thursday just become your new favourite day?
Now, if Caesars and Jameson aren't your thing (I get it, you might be more of a beer person), then no worries. James Bar also has Threesome Tuesdays which means $3 drinks, $3 beers, and $3 shots so now you have two new favourite days of the week. Plus, they've got mind blowing cocktails like the King James which features Crown Royal Apple, soda, basil, and strawberries, or the Village James which is the perfect summer beverage if you like beer and Peach Schnapps.
Honestly, this vibrant spot on St.Laurent is definitely worth checking out! From their mouth watering food to their refreshing list of cocktails, and of course their James Franco atmosphere, this is the new summer spot. Bonus: they will be setting up a patio just in time for the warm weather!
Like, yes, I know it's not cool to have my friends wait five/ten minutes before eating so I can get the perfect Insta shot of all our food. I know I'm a terrible person, but let me like what I like!
Anyway, rant aside, I've been into Instagram for a little while now, and I've kind of built up an intinerary of most of the coolest spots to Instagram in Montreal. And if you're wondering what exactly that is... well, wonder no more. I got your back.
A beautiful and fun rooftop terrasse overlooking a gorgeous view of the city? Yeah. Whip out those phones get ready to ignore that Storage Almost Full notification, guys; you'll be taking tons of perfect shots for IG.
Can a spot be simple, gorgeous, and trendy all at once? Yes. Yes it can. Leaves Cafe is all of this and more, and with their copious cacti and awesome lattes, this spot will leave both you and your Insta following seriously impressed.
Honestly, this is my favourite spot in the whole city to Instagram. There's something so gorgeous about the flowers and simple/familiar about those white bird cages that make it one of the most aesthetically pleasing spots in the city.
The Airs Libres outdoor art installation in Montreal's Gay Village is gorgeous on any given year. This year, though, it just so happens to be rainbow-themed, making it unique and beautiful and totally, totally Insta-worthy.
Quite possibly one of the most gorgeous interiors in Montreal, this spot is begging to be Instagrammed - but even the 'Gram doesn't do it justice, so trust me when I say you need to experience this spot for yourself.
Sure, you might think the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is where the IG likes are at. But that's a little tired at this point. If you're going to Insta a museum, head to the MAC instead, for a fresh twist on a much-loved Montreal activity.
