Montreal has officially declared a state of emergency due to all the flooding happening in and around the island.
The areas most affected are:
- Ahuntsic–Cartierville
- L’Île-Bizard–Sainte- Geneviève
- Pierrefonds-Roxboro
- Sainte-Anne- de-Bellevue
- Senneville

According to the city of Montreal, this kind of situation is unprecedented.
The priority right now is ensuring public safety.
Authorities predict that due to the current weather forecast, this problem will continue throughout the week.
According to the latest updates water levels are still rising and they will only begin to drop by Wednesday.
Additional Canadian military personnel (1650 in total) have been called to secure the 3 collapsed dikes, and assist residents.
