Everything Happening For Montreal's 375th Birthday Today

If you've been in Montreal for the past year, then the chances are very high that you know one thing above all others: 2017 marks Montreal's 375th  anniversary.

To celebrate, there have been tons of events set up throughout the year, and some still to come.

The official date of Montreal's birthday, though, is May 17 - which just so happens to be today, and which just so happens to mean that there are a ton of things going down in the city to celebrate.

If you're wondering how exactly you can participate in the celebration of our beyond awesome city, no worries. I've got your back!

Buses and metros will be accessible to everyone free of charge today from 5 AM Wednesday - 1 AM Thursday. So hop on, and check out some of the celebrations going down!

Churches will be ringing their bells until 8:55 AM.

Starting with St. Joseph's Oratory, of course!

Notre Dame Basilica will host a celebratory mass at 9:00 AM.

All to celebrate Montreal's First Nations' heritage, and different religions in the city. Prominent Canadian and Quebec political figures will be there, including PM Justin Trudeau, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, and Mayor Denis Coderre.

A tribute to Paul Chomedy de Maisonneuve and Jeanne-Mance, featuring music, dancing, and speeches, will go down at 10:30 AM.

It's happening at Place D'Armes. There will be First Nations singers and drummers, a ballet performance, and Justin Trudeau is set to make a speech.

Musicians, comedians, and more will entertain at the Bell Centre's Bonne Fete Montreal show at 7:00 PM.

An outdoor multimedia water/light show will go down in the Old Port at 8:30 PM.

The Montreal Avudo show will highlight the prominent role that the St. Lawrence river had throughout the centuries. It's happening in the Old Port's King Edward Quay.

The Jacques Cartier Bridge will be all lit up in beautiful colours, starting at 9:45 PM.

Honestly, I feel like I've been waiting for this one all year. We saw how gorgeous the bridge is lit up when they tested it out a few months ago; now it's the real deal, so you can only imagine how beautiful it'll be (especially since there'll be a soundtrack of the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra playing, too).

Remember that the bridge is going to be closed off to traffic tonight for this from 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
