Forget the Olympics this is the only winter sport you need.
Everything You Need To Know About Montreal's Pond Hockey Festival 2014

Tradition, competition, and love for Canada's most iconic pastime will be brought together in Montreal's Pond Hockey Festival. Put on by Hockey Glacier, and taking place on Lac Saint-Louis in Old-Lachine (2801 St Joseph) this weekend (February 8th and 9th), the festival is an annual 4vs4 hockey tournament fun for everyone, even if you don't play hockey.

As with all great things, the idea for festival was formed in a local pub, by hockey enthusiasts who were confused as to why Montreal didn't have it's own pond hockey tourney. In a short three years, the festival went from 15 teams in its first year to a whopping 70, and is only getting more popular.

Why play outdoor on a pond when we have hockey rinks? Well, the organizers at Hockey Glacier know that playing outside is so different, and so much more enjoyable, than being cooped up indoors. Players and spectators get to enjoy the natural beauty of Montreal, play in a historic setting along the banks of the Lachine, and get a little childhood flashback of playing on neighborhood outdoor rinks with friends. A nice dose of nostalgia goes a long way.

Hockey lovers, families, and anyone who enjoys some winter fun will be sure to have a good time at Montreal Pond Hockey Festival. To learn more about how you can play in the tourney or just check it out. LIKE the FB page, SURF the website, and FOLLOW Hockey Glacier on Twitter.

See you on the ice Montreal.

Will you be playing this weekend?
