The Duchess's popularity is rapidly dwindling.

New relationships always sweep us up into a flurry of excitement and uninterrupted happiness and joy. The relationship doesn't even have to be romantic in nature to provide us with that rush of electrifying excitement. It can be a new friend, colleague, even a new gadget like a phone.

This initial enthusiasm goes on for awhile, until — sometimes to our dismay and confusion — it abruptly stops. All of a sudden, that perfect person or thing you couldn't keep your hands off of starts to do imperfect things. Those quirks you once loved start to become more annoying than funny.

TL;DR Meghan Markle is currently experiencing the most serious bout of negative attention and publicity she has ever received since her entry into Royal Family.

You now have exited the honeymoon phase and entered real life again. Welcome back!

At the moment, it seems like Meghan Markle followers and fans of the Royal Family are experiencing Meghan's mask dropping for the first time. In other words, Meghan madness is over and the honeymoon has officially ended.

Not only for Royal family fans, but also for those who work closest to her.

We all know of the many reports which have highlighted Markle's style of work, which is rubbing everyone the wrong way at Kensington Palace.

Back in early December, it escalated to the point that rumours that one of her assistants quit in tears began circulating the internet.

After that, more brutal rumours began spreading that the "happy" young couples — Meghan and Harry, Kate and William — weren't as happy as they appeared to be in Kensington Palace's perfectly curated Instagram feed.

The tension between the couples has arrived to the point where they will be splitting ways; Meghan and Harry are officially moving out of Kensington Palace.

On the other side of the equation, those outside the Royal family have been giving Meghan a hard time as well. For example, she was recently criticized on Twitter for cradling her baby bump too much.

Although some die-hard fans — not to mention, people with common sense — did come forward to defend the instinctive gesture of a soon-to-be mom cradling her baby bump, there are some more subtle shifts in public behaviour which strongly suggest that Meghan madness is slowly coming to an end.

For example, Kensington palace just released two images of the couples, which are being used as yearly Christmas cards for the Royal Family.

Meghan and Harry's post received 13K likes, whereas Kate Middleton and William's post received 49k likes! That's a huge difference. This may seem trivial, but the disparity in attention given to both photos is remarkable considering how much more popular Meghan was than the Duchess of Cambridge at the time of her marriage to Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share a new photograph of their family.

The photograph, taken by Matt Porteous, shows The Duke and Duchess with their three children at Anmer Hall, and features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card this year.

Although the family portrait of Kate and William is an objectively more professional and traditional photo, you must consider that Meghan-themed content normally outperforms Kate content on Kensington Palace's social media by a considerable amount. All that to say, Meghan followers know: something is up.

Whether the reports are a true reflection of what actually happens behind the Royal curtain, the fact remains that a unfavorable image of Meghan is currently being painted by the press and media; this is the most serious bout of negative attention and publicity she has received since her entry into the Royal Family.

And the nature of these reports cuts much deeper than simply criticizing her choice of dress, neckline, or shoes. These negative claims are often aimed at disparaging her character and pointing out its negative effects on the interpersonal relationships in Kensington Palace.

We can only hope that with the arrival of the baby in spring, things will simmer down and go back to "normal" for Meghan, whatever normal means for a Duchess.
