Knob Creek® Old Fashioned

via @eaglelovingbaconeater

Ah, the Old FashionedThis staple in any whisky lover's drink repertoire, and it calls for a high proof bourbon - which is why Knob Creek is seriously recommended. This bourbon is aged in maximum-char barrels, pulling every bit of natural sweetness from the oak, which gives it those awesome vanilla and caramel notes. The Old Fashioned really lets all of Knob Creek's full flavours shine, and adds in hints of orange and sweetness from the simple syrup.

Recipe:

- 2oz Knob Creek Bourbon
- Half orange wheel
- 0.5oz simple syrup (1:1 ratio)
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- Muddle orange, simple syrup and bitters in a rocks glass
- Fill with ice and pour in Knob Creek
- Stir for 30 seconds and top with fresh ice
- Orange zest garnish

Auchentoshan® and Ale

One of the best things about Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky is that it's triple distilled, meaning that its fruit and citrus flavours are more easily released. Auchentoshan tends to pair well with ales, and the simple Auchentoshan And Ale is a cocktail that's both easy to make, and a HUGE hit with anyone who knows their whiskies!

Recipe:

1.5oz Auchentoshan 3 Wood Single Malt Scotch
- 1oz grapefruit juice
- 0.5oz lemon juice
- 0.75oz simple syrup (1:1 ratio)
- Ale of choice
- Shake all but ale with ice and strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice
- Top with ale and quick stir to combine all ingredients
- Lemon zest garnish

Straight-up, pretty much ALL of these drinks are more than worth a sip. Although these cocktails are basically works of art (that also happen to be pretty simple to make at home, or order at a bar!), the one thing they have in common? They're specially made so that you can TASTE the whisky!

And, protip? When you use whiskies as delicious as these, it doesn't matter if you love whisky or not. Sure, whisky lovers are in for a treat - but even those heathens who are lukewarm to our favourite liquor can't help but fall in love!
