I would love to be able to rise and shine with the sun, feeling energized, refreshed and ready to take on the day. In an ideal world, the birds would be singing as I sit up in bed and stretch my arms out above my head. With a huge smile on my face and filled with enthusiasm I would say, “Good morning world, today is going to be a great day!”
But let’s be real, mornings are brutal and mine are usually nothing like the Disney-like dream I just described. If you’re anything like me, you may find that you're pressed for time thanks to the alarm that you snoozed multiple times. You might also find yourself running around your home, brushing your teeth as you pack your bag and running out of the door on an empty stomach.
Here’s the good news, mornings don’t have to be a disaster. Having a positive and productive morning can help set the tone for the rest of the day.
Here are 7 tips to make your mornings infinitely better.
1. Keep your phone out of the bedroom
Before you go to sleep at night, leave your phone in another room or in the hallway. Not only will this keep you from doing some unnecessary late night social media creeping, it will also encourage you to get up and out of bed when that alarm goes off in the morning. No more snoozing!
2. Make a morning motivation playlist
Throw on your favorite party jams or choose a pre-made morning motivation playlist. Pump up the volume while you shower and get ready for the day. The music will put you in a good mood and can help reduce stress for the day ahead! Oh, and if you feel inclined to use your hairbrush as a microphone, I fully support that decision.
3. Eat a healthy breakfast
Never underestimate the power of food for fuel, especially breakfast. Next time you’re chowing down on a bowl of oatmeal or eggs with whole wheat toast, think about adding Tropicana Essentials Probiotics™. to the mix. It's packed with 1 billion active cultures in every 250ml serving and tastes delicious. Probiotics are typically considered the good bacteria that supplements your body’s microbiome - an integral part of gut health.
Yes, this one is super simple so why not give it a try? Wake up, stumble over to the closest mirror and show yourself those pearly whites. Trick your mind into feeling those happy feelings by simply smiling.
5. Get your blood flowing
This may take a bit more motivation at first, but trust me, it's a great way to wake up. Hit the gym or an early yoga session first thing in the AM. If you don’t have time for that, set aside 15 minutes to do a light workout of jumping jacks, pushups or a run around the block to invigorate your body.
6. Organization is key
Before you go to sleep, lay out your clothes for the following day and pack your bag with all the essentials. Say goodbye to frantically fumbling for an outfit and forgetting that important file at home. By preparing these things the night before, you’ll give yourself more time for other things in the morning, like eating and maybe even flossing.
7. Make time for some morning mindfulness
Take 5 to 10 minutes to start your morning with a little mediation. You’ll be surprised with how rewarding a little piece and quiet for your mind and body can be. Not sure how to start? There are plenty of apps and free trials out there that will be able to guide you through.
So are you ready to start the day off on a good note? Take it from me, a great pump up playlist in the morning and a healthy breakfast go a long way!
