Fireworks are kind of a year-round spectacle in Montreal. In the summer the sky is illuminated by international pyrotechnician during L'International des Feux Loto-Québec, and then again in the colder months, with the ongoing TELUS© Fire on Ice series of fireworks shows. A special spectacle will close 2014, with year's final high in the sky spectacle of fireworks going down in Place Jacques Cartier on December 31st.
The last firework show of 2014 is being put on by Merry Montreal, and is part of their giant New Year's Eve party, otherwise known as Le Party Du Nouvel An Coca Cola. Entirely free, the New Year's eve party will be full of music and entertainment, with local bands and DJs taking the stage to please your ears before the visual spectacle of fireworks that is arguably the party's coolest feature.
Set to launch into the air at midnight, Le Party Du Nouvel An's firework show will simultaneously close the year, celebrating the year's accomplishments with a shining display, while marking the dawn of 2015, a symbolic start to a bright new year. Let's also not forget just how romantic your New Year's Eve kiss will be with a magical firework display painting the sky as you share the moment with that special someone. It'll be a veritable movie moment.
More of a party than just a firework show, Le Party Du Nouvel An Coca Cola will continue well after midnight when the spectacle has finished. The DJ booth will be manned once more and tons of tunes and dancing will keep the energy alive, making sure your first few hours of 2015 will be spent having fun with your family and friends.
Montreal's last (and certainly not least) firework show of the year is being organized by Merry Montreal, the people who have been making the city festive throughout the entire holiday season. Merry Montreal has many ongoing events and activations you can enjoy well before the NYE firework show, including free holiday film screenings. Check them all for yourself at the official website here.
