We're all dealing with Post-Osheaga Depression (aka POD) right now, but thankfully we'll be able to get our artistic and musical fix in a short couple of weeks. Festivals may be on the decline in Montreal during August, but the town of Sorel-Tracy just outside of the city will keep the summer spirit alive with the 7th edition of the FAST Festival.
From August 13th to 16th, downtown Sorel-Tracy will be transformed into a cultural wonderland of art, music, and performances of all sorts. The Festival des arts de Sorel-Tracy (FAST) is unlike any other festival in Montreal, or Canada for that matter, blending all forms of art into a four day fun-filled frenzy.
Want to buy yourself a ticket? Unlike other festivals, this one is quite affordable! You can get a mini pass (a day pass) for $15 or a 4 day, full experience pass for $25.
Expect a ton of different musical acts, both theatrical and artistic performances, visual art installations from local and international artists, film screenings, and quite honestly, who knows what else. That's the cool thing about FAST, there are so many different veins of art included, you're bound to see and experience a song, piece of art, or performance like nothing you've seen before.
Here are some of our must- not- miss art installations at this year's FAST Festival:
- Claire Burelli- Serie Conception- Visual Arts: more info here
- Martin Cournoyer- Visual Arts: more info here
- Marie Poirier Landry: Visual Arts: more info here
You an check out the full details and schedules for the events on each of the 4 FAST Festival days here, we definitely suggest going to all!
If you're from Montreal like us and don't want to have to worry about travelling to and from Sorel- Tracy, FAST Festival is giving you the opportunity to ride on their exclusive shuttle bus going to and from the festival for only $25.
To make things even cooler, while at the festival, you can enjoy custom FAST red beer- have a pint or two with us!
There's only so much of summer left, so go out with a bang at FAST. Only about an hour outside of the city (map), this is a festival definitely worth road tripping to, for the mass amounts of art and performances alone.
