Winter may be cold, but the best way to avoid the whole January-February Netflix hibernation is to actually head out of your house and enjoy everything the city has to offer. Tourists may think Montreal is only booming in the summer, but we know better. Igloofest isn't the only winter party to begin this weekend, as Parc Jean-Drapeau's veritable weekend winter wonderland known as Fête des neiges launches this Saturday.

Even though Fête des neiges has been running for 32 years, the event has lost none of its energy. There is actually so much to do at Fête des neiges, for kids, adults, and zany twenty-nothings alike.

All kinds of winter-tastic fun can be had riding down the giant tube slide, careening across the 6-metre high zipline, and the experiencing new "Bing Bang Bulle,” zone where you can literally turn yourself into a giant ball and roll around. Perhaps most exciting, at least to us, is the chance to dog sled at Parc Jean-Drapeau, mostly because we've always dreamed of yelling "mush!" to a pack of huskies running along the snow.

Party people or couples looking for some excitement on the weekend will all about the Trippe & Bouffe event happening on Saturdays at Fête des neiges. Food trucks will provide you delectable eats starting at 4pm, which will give you plenty of fuel for the DJ set, dancing, and light show that begins once the sun sets.

Of course, there's also the standard winter activities to check out, like skating, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Among the tamer stuff to do at Fête des neiges include horse-drawn sleigh rides and a giant ferris wheel, both of which can still be pretty fun. Find out about more things to do at Fête des neiges here.

Parc Jean-Drapeau's Fête des neiges begins this weekend and runs every Saturday and Sunday until Febuary 8th. Get more details on rates and scheduling by heading to the official event listing here.
